1976 - MONDAY MEMO MANIA BLUES

It's Monday, Bloody Monday
and you're sitting in your office
and you're waiting for your secretary's pencil
to jot down what the words will be
in this week's sacred homily
to be typed up accordingly on stencil.

I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.
Sometimes I feel like carbon paper is my only one true friend.
I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.

"Do not park out on the parking lot
in spaces that are clearly marked
for parking, but of course, aren't marked for you.
And if you choose to disobey, we'll tow your little car away.
Expense incurred is to be paid by you."

"By memo of a week ago,
we made it clear for all to know
that someone's stealing food from our ice box.
And though precautions have been made,
it's my unpleasant job to say
that now it seems somebody stole the locks."

I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.
Sometimes it seems like carbon paper is my only one true friend.
I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.

"While punching out the clock at five,
if you should wish to stay alive,
your best bet is to heed this here epistle.
For if by some chance you are caught
while punching someone else's card,
you're subject to immediate dismissal."

I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.
Sometimes it seems like carbon paper is my only one true friend.
I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.

Sometimes it seems like carbon paper is my only one true friend.
I've got those Monday memo mania blues again.
