1970-1972 - THE LEGEND OF KING KONG

Last night on the movie show,
the picture came on, and what do you know!
I grabbed my guitar and I burst into song.
This was the legend of mighty, King Kong.

Way back yonder in '33,
the world was attached by a giant monkey.
Captured by a film crew for the USA,
his giant eyes first fell upon the lovely Fay Wray.

With her beautiful eyes and her beautiful shape,
she made that big gorilla go absolutely ape.
He climbed up a building. He was running away.
But all he really wanted was the lovely Fay Wray.

The army was trying to stop his escape,
so they shot a lot of bullets into the ape.
The planes were flying above his big head.
A few minutes later, our hero was dead.

Down in the streets, the people were glad.
But poor King Kong wasn't really so bad.
All he ever wanted was a chance to say
how much he really dug the lovely Fay Wray.

His life was made a movie, the story of a guy
who, for the only girl he loved, would very gladly die.
And though he may be gone, his name lingers on.
He was a legend, the mighty King Kong.

He was a legend, the mighty King Kong.
