1970-1972 - LOVE PAINTS MANY DREAMS

Love paints many colors blended into one,
the color of the rising moon and of the setting sun,
the color of the raindrops with a touch of gentle breeze,
of nature in the universe and nature's wistful pleas.

Love paints many dreams, warm and lovely scenes.
Hope for future lies deep within your eyes.
Love means everything to me,
as the only one I love will always be
the painter of the portrait of my love.

Love paints many faces, never two the same,
the color of tomorrow and a color of no name.
Everyone around us with their faces shining bright,
the colors bring to every heart a new and guiding light.

Love pains many dreams, warm and lovely scenes.
Hope for future lies deep within your eyes.
Love means everything to me,
as the only one I love will always be
the painter in the portrait of my love.

1970-1972 - LOOK TO THE SUN

When your problems seem as many
and your riches seem as few,
when you're lost and you're forgotten
and you don't know what to do,
while your hopes are slowly dying
and your dreams have blown away,
look to the sun for a brighter day.

When your world seems dark and dreary
as the clouds fill up your sky,
when you spend your whole life working
and you have no idea why,
when your life has no more meaning
and you see no need to stay,
look to the sun for a brighter day.

As the hands of time move onward
but your world is standing still,
try to rise above the others
having strength of mind and will.
But when life seems to be hopeless,
just take heed of what I say.
Look to the sun for a brighter day.

Look to the sun for a brighter day.

1970-1972 - LITTLE PIECE OF ME

He lies asleep inside his world of cowboys and ice cream,
where every night he finds himself the star of every dream.
Some nights he may be on a ship to visit foreign lands,
or maybe on his horse he rides across the desert sands.
He's so young and I don't know where I'd be
if it wasn't for that little piece of me.

When we're walking hand in hand, I'm always very proud
to know he's someone special in the faceless crowd.
And I can't help but wonder what he'll grow up to be:
a doctor or a lawyer, or man that's simply free.

I wonder when he grows up if he'll have to fight a war
like his daddy did justy twenty years before.
Or by then, will all the war and hatred cease to be?
Dear God, for his sake, bring this world to peace.

When bedtime rolls around and I lay him down to sleep,
I cannot help but feel a pain that comes from way down deep.
He's lying there so peaceful with his ragged teddy bear.
I turn to smile at Daddy, but I see that no one's there.

A tear comes down and soon I find that I will start to cry.
Oh God, why do young men have to die?
Then I turn around to see my special, little man,
and I pull myself together once again.

He's so young and I don't know where I'd be
if it wasn't for that little piece of me.

1970-1972 - INSIDE YOUR MIND

There's a world of cotton candy trees
and a world of cherry skies.
It's a place where little children go
each time they close their eyes.
Travel down the dreaming highway
'til you see the rainbow sign
leading you into the world inside your mind.

There's a donkey and a teddy bear,
and a pony is there, too,
and some little, furry kittens
are waiting just for you.
Ice cream hills are among the many
things that you will find,
in the private, little world inside your mind.

There's a little bunny rabbit
with a tail of snow white fur,
and a momma dog is calling all
her puppies back to her.
It's a place where golden moonbeams
taste like lemon-lime,
in the private, little world inside your mind.

In the morning, when you wake up,
you will have to say good-bye,
but you'll see your little friends again
the next time you close your eyes.
You'll discover that this world of ours
is nice and kinda fine,
but not nearly as nice as the world inside your mind.

Now, the grown-ups of this life
are working, oh so very hard.
More than twice the size that you are,
but I bet not half as smart.
They'd all be so much better of
if they would take some time
to visit the private world inside their minds.

1970-1972 - I'M LEAVING

It seems as though we've gone through this so many times before.
It seems that every time I'm ready to walk out the door,
you start again with all the things you'll do to make a change.
But this is one time I won't wait to see things stay the same.
I'm leaving.

Your promises of better times aren't worth an empty life.
It turned out that my days of sunshine now are endless nights.
I can't take another day of trying to live a lie.
The days when we were so in love have quickly floated by.
I'm leaving.

There must be something better than the life I've always known,
something that my world could spin around.
There's more to living than the pain that's always by my side,
more than broken hearts coming down.

The future lies beneath my feet if I would take the chance
to walk away from emptiness and into new romance.
I have to find a meaning for my free and brand new mind,
to close the door and put an end to lonely, wasted time.
I'm leaving.

There must be something better than the life I've always known,
something that my world could spin around.
There's more to living than the pain that's always by my side,
more than broken hearts coming down.

I'm leaving .... I'm leaving.

1970-1972 - I WANT TO GO SMILING

I want to go smiling when it's time for me to die and
I want to be happy when they lay me in my grave.
I want to be peaceful when they find that I'm deceased
so all the relatives and friends will think I'm brave.

I want to go grinning when I'm finished with my sinning because
I want to be grateful for the fun that I have had.
I want to be smirking when the undertaker's lurking 'round.
He's got another one and now he's glad.

Time to meet my Maker,
walking through the Pearly Gates.
No use having second thoughts
'cause now it is too late.

I want to be loving when the caretaker is shoving me into the ground.
I'm gonna be joyous when my life has finally ceased.
I want to be laughing when they put me in my casket
and my only hope is that I'll rest in peace.

Told the Man my story,
and I thought I told it well.
Heading for my knew home,
which is somewhere down in ......

I want to go smiling when it's time for me to die and
I want to be happy when they lay me in my grave.
I want to be peaceful when they find that I'm deceased
so all the relatives and friends will think I'm brave.

1970-1972 - HELLO, AMERICA

Hello, America. I am in love.

Hello the sunshine and hello the rain.
Can't you feel something happening?
Such a feeling could drive me insane.
I don't really care as long as you are there,
to comfort me in time of need.

Hello the morning, yes, hello the dawn.
Can't you hear the music play?
Way up high on a cloud I am on.
Way up in the sky, as long as you are mine,
always close at hand to understand.

Hello, America. I am in love.
And I want the world to know.
Hello, America. The world above
gave me a miracle to show.
No more stop. Only go.
Let the River Love flow.

Hello the summer and hello the spring.
Can't you feel the warmth they bring?
Hello the winter and hello the fall.
Can't you hear the seasons call?
Or do you still live in the past?
Don't you know that love is meant to last.

Hello, America. I am in love.
And I want the world to know.
Hello, America. The world above
gave me a miracle to show.
No more stop. Only go.
Let the River Love flow.

1970-1972 - FANCY MORNING

Feeling good this morning.

Alarm clock sounds another day.
Stumble to the kitchen, making my way.
Have a cup of coffee, then I'm ready to say:
feeling good this morning, fancy morning.

Looking out the window, sun starts to rise,
watching nature moving around in the skies.
All my inner feelings reflect in my eyes.
Feeling good this morning, fancy morning.

Another beautiful morning is staring me in the face.
Time to get up and go out and join the human race.
Time for waking up nature of every color, weight, shape and size.
Another beautiful morning makes a person glad to be alive.

Walking down the street, wearing a smile.
Meeting friendly people stop and talk for awhile.
Seeing lovely things in every mile.

Feeling good this morning, fancy morning.

Feeling good this morning, fancy morning.

1970-1972 - COUNTRY LOVE

The wheat fields sure look pretty
as we're miles away from city life and city pain.
Country love is working on me.
Now there is no time for me to be ashamed.
Lovers come and lovers go,
but there are some who'll never know what loving means.
Holding you beneath the stars,
erasing all the bitter scars of foolish dreams.
Carried on the snow white wings of every dove
is the special joy in living country love.

Ah, country love is kind of special, kind of new.
Ah, country love could change a person's point of view.
Country love is all you give and everything that I give back to you.

I can say without a doubt
that I could never live without your warm embrace.
Lying here beneath the sun
I feel a country breeze coming across my face.
When I look into your eyes,
I feel my body paralyze from your sweet smile.
Summer fields of country air.
I feel your presence everywhere, in avery mile.

Ah, country love is kind of special, kind of new.
Ah, country love could change a person's point of view.
Country love is what you give and everything that I give back to you.

And I can see my dreams come true,
as I am here and loving you.  That's all I need.
Hold me close and hold me tight,
soon I know our peaceful night will quickly leave.
And the sun will be rising up above.
Another day for feeling country love.

Ah, country love is kind of special, kind of new.
Ah, country love could change a person's point of view.
Country love is what you give and everything that I give back to you.

1970-1972 - BUT THE WIND

On the tracks, see the train.
See the sunset on the plain.
See the gently falling rain.
Nobody's left but the wind.

See the evening coming down.
No one's laughing at the clown.
No one's passing the old, ghost town.
Nobody's left but the wind.

Never has too much to say.
Never seems to lose its way.
Never sees the now or yesterday.

No one sees the changing times.
No one has their peace of mind.
No one's drinking sour wine.
Nobody's left but the wind.

Never has too much to say.
Never seems to lose its way.
Never sees the now or yesterday.

See the mountains touch the skies.
See the tears within my eyes.
See the fool.  Such am I.
Nobody's left but the wind.
Nobody's left but the wind.

1970-1972 - BENEATH THIS CLOUD

Mellow afternoons sang their songs in tune.
Never led me to believe
that when I woke up, all the sun would stop
at the time you had to leave.
Then the peace I'd known was over
and I wondered if somehow
the day would come when I would be
out from underneath this cloud.

Tears I seldom shed followed me to bed
as my world came falling down.
On the windowpane came the pouring rain.
Listen to its haunting sound.
And the rain had come to tell me
that my life was over now.
My love had wandered off again,
leaving me beneath this cloud.

On the windowpane came the pouring rain.
Listen to its haunting sound.
Then the peace I'd known was over
and I wondered if somehow
the day would come when I would be
out from underneath this cloud.

1969 - LISTEN

Listen to the whisper of the rain.
Do you hear it calling my name?
Speaking softly quiet phrases.
Listen to the listening of love.

Listen to the rustling of the leaves.
Do you know my aim is to please?
Warm emotions blending nicely.
Listen to the listening of love.

Listen to the quiet of the night.
Does you mind say this is all right?
Loving kindness brings you near me.
Listen to the listening of love.

Listen to the beating of my heart.
Does it tell you how we should start?
I'll be loving you forever.
Listen to the listening of love.

Listen to the listening of listening to listening.
Listen to the listening of love.
